When the foliage starts losing its colour and looking green, it's the perfect indicator that the plant might not have enough fertiliser. In some cases, it's both fertiliser and potentially not enough water. When grown in containers, the lack of fertiliser is even more evident as the containers leach fertiliser. Therefore a good feed is essential to maintain good foliage colour, root growth and flower performance.
Loropetalum 'Plum Gorgeous' has a fibrous, non-aggressive root system that won't travel great lengths. Often the root ball will be more shallow-rooted and spread outwards to where the plant's foliage drip line would be.
To create a nice dense hedge, you can plant Loropetalum 'Plum Gorgeous' at 1-1.2 metres apart.
