Callistemon ‘Great Balls of Fire’ was bred in Australia over two decades ago, and still remains a staple in many Aussie backyards. ‘Great Balls of Fire’ is celebrated for its dense compact habit and the intense red hues of its emerging new growth. Growing to a height of around 1.75m and with a similar spread,, this plant is ideal as a hedge with impact.

‘Great Balls of Fire’ has been outperforming other plants in its class for decades, due to its extreme resilience to a wide variety of climatic conditions, and its easy to grow and low maintenance nature. Ornamental year round, ‘Great Balls of Fire’ makes a fantastic structural addition to both native and exotic garden alike.

Bred by well known and respected Victorian plant breeder, the late Rex Trimble.

Growing to a height of 1.75m with a spread of 1.5m, C. 'Great Balls of Fire' was bred for its particularly dense compact habit and the intense red hues of it's new emerging growth. These two features make it an exceptional choice for hedging or singularly as an eye-catching feature in any garden.

Ornamental year round, C. 'Great Balls of Fire' makes a fantastic structural addition to native or exotic gardens alike.

Select a sunny location in most soil types that are well draining. Regular pruning to shape, and being fed with a slow release fertiliser formulated for natives in spring is all that’s required to keep this plant looking it’s best in your garden. Flowers can occur, but typically do not in situations where the plant is pruned to shape. For hedging space plants up to 50cm apart. Bred by well known and respected breeder Rex Trimble.
