Rosmarinus 'Irene'

full sun
height 75cm
spread 1.75m

Rosemary 'Irene' is a terrific low mounding form with a spreading habit, making it perfect for landscaping in both the home garden, and public open spaces. 'Irene' produces a profuse display of deep blue flowers throughout mid-winter, and has deliciously aromatic foliage, typical of the rosemary herb. This is an all round tough garden performer, being tolerant of both heat and frosts. It also exhibits resistance from diseases that can be common in other forms of rosemary.

Plant in most soil types that are free draining. Requires only occasional deep watering during extended periods of heat. 'Irene' is very drought tolerant once established, and water requirements are low, requiring only an occasional deep watering during extended periods of heat. Pruning is generally not required, although you can prune to shape immediately after flowering if required, and feed with a slow release general purpose fertiliser at this same time.

• Water wise gardens • Mass planting in domestic and public landscapes • Ground cover and border plantings in mixed beds • Spill over plant for retaining walls, embankments or balcony walls • Hanging baskets or vertical gardens
